Excellent Event
2 May 2018
I thought the two day event was excellent, well attended and good companies presenting. The speakers were impressive, i wish i could have seen them all.
I thought the venue was good but Mello probably need a bigger space, larger rooms for the talks to take place in.

Very good
2 May 2018
Interesting mix of companies from strong stalwarts to some blue-skys - they were not all strong companies IMO.
With four concurrent programs there were inevitably some clashes so I did not get to see all the presentaions I wanted, but the videos of PI World are helping hugely to fill in the gaps.

Mello 18 - Excellent Experience
1 May 2018
The two days at Mello were absolutely superb. It gave me an insight into different thought processes on my investments. So many ideas were picked up that it will take me a good few weeks to process them all. The companies and speakers were of the highest calibre, and gave good presentations. I was particularly impressed by the presentations by Phil Oakley and Paul Scott, which were very educational and thought provoking. The whole event was superbly organised and was exceedingly enjoyable. I cannot wait for the next Mello. Superb!

Best AIM investor Event
29 April 2018
Mello2018 was superb, without doubt the best big AIM investor event held in recent months. Great to catch up with so many of the AIM community. There were a lot of people there and the ambience was really good with a good flow between the exhibiting companies, main speaker room and the three company presentation rooms. The main speakers were excellent with useful pertinent topics covered in good depth. There were many very good companies presenting and the format of the presentations enabled one to get an overview of the company and the investment case and for some of the questions on investors minds to be asked publicly with plenty of time to discuss with other investors and the companies separately during the two days. I was often faced with the choice between not one or two decent presentations running parallel to each other but three. Thank you to everyone who was involved in organising the event.

Next time I will definitely go for the 2 days rather than just the 1. I had no idea what to expect but was bowled over by the friendliness of the other attendees and the quality of the presentations.

The quality of both speakers presenting and companies on the stands was fantastic. There was a very positive friendly vibe at the event and there was plenty of opportunity to network with like minded investors.

Mello 2018
28 April 2018
A Brilliant event. Great line up of top line small cap investor speakers. Great to see Miton, Liontrust, Downing sharing their insights. Many interesting companies to talk to on the stands, and listen to their presentations. So many "small cap investment legends in the same room!
Only thing I would change is have a "small overflow room", from the Tappin room, with TV screens and sound feed from the main room.

Mello 2018 Derby
28 April 2018
Good event, but there were too many people for lecture rooms at the Derby Conference Centre. Some lectures were overfull by a LOT. Also some rooms were very stuffy when crammed with people. Not pleasant. Useful to consider a venue with bigger rooms for next year. The masterclass, in my opinion, was let down by the presenter asking very non-relevant questions, that sounded clever, but were impossible to answer properly. The individual presenters, should have been allowed to each complete their bits, with maybe a pre-arranged theme for them all, and the audience able to ask general questions to everybody at the end.

Mello 2108
28 April 2018
Excellent, varied 2 day event, friendly atmosphere, many opportunities for informative conversations.
Wonderful to have it in Derby instead of so often being in London (or worse, further south than London).
Suggested key speakers for the future - Terry Smith, Nick Train, Prof. John Kay, Simon Thompson, Head of FCA private investors section (if there is such a person) and Mark Minervini (probably much too costly).

Mello 2018, highly enjoyable
28 April 2018
Mello 2018 was most enjoyable. Firstly because I met many like minded investors, a lot of whom I have communicated with via Twitter, and secondly because of the excellent presentations I was able to attend. These covered both specific companies and more general investment topics. Peter Pereira Gray and Paul Scott were particular highlights.

First time at Mello
28 April 2018
I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I've not attended a Mello event before. I was really impressed over the two days with the quality of speakers and the range of companies exhibiting. I've certainly learnt a great deal that will help with my future investing choices and approach.

I thought it was very good. The only problem I found was there were not enough seats for the audience when the popular speakers were on the platform. I know it is difficult because you do not know how many people will attend. If you hold another one next year I feel you need a bigger room for the popular guest speakers.

Mello
27 April 2018
Another excellent Mello event. thank you David and all for all your work.
the only very small criticism i have is the choice of Moderator for the Share Soc Masterclass - Conkers. a moderator should moderate, not try to take over the show. and the standard of his questions was dissappointing.

Interesting and informative

Relatively new to investing.
I came to the event with a couple of experienced friends.
I found the presentations helped build my overall general understanding of stock analysis and global investment themes in the changing world.

5 Star event marred only by overcrowded Tappin Theatre
27 April 2018
A truly excellent choice of companies, fund managers and other market professionals. Some very good formal presentations as well as the opportunity to hear the investment case for at least 20 companies on a one-to-one basis. Fully worthy of paying to come.

It's ok....
27 April 2018
The Derby conference centre isnt exactly a nice place to hold an event. It's seen better days for sure.
The talks in the tappin theatre were always over booked. They need a bigger room or less people to attend.
Some of the talks were good, some were poor. Most were ok.
I would have preferred the information about the companies attending before the event.
UK investor show in London was better and better value for money.

OK but could have been better...
27 April 2018
It was my first Mello so I didn't know what to expect. However when I reflect on the experience I think it was generally OK but it could have been better.
The price was good, I like the fact that you can talk to people involved in the AIM companies that i might be interested in the future, and I particularly liked the theatre talks but the Tappin theatre was just too small for the number of attendees, it was hard to get in and out and a couple of times for the popular talks I couldn't get in. I was at the back of a long queue.
When I signed up for Mello on the website I couldn't find the schedule for the day. Therefore I couldn't plan (and set my expectations) Only when I arrive did I get a schedule.
As a "nice to have", when I arrived it would have been help some new like myself, I could imagine that if you are newbie there could be recommendation in the magazine or the staff could tell you, "you need do the following or you can meet others like you here." etc. When I spoke to others at lunch and told them that it was my first time they said, "Oh you need to go to Paul Scott and Graham Neary's presentation - that's very useful and they tell you what to look for in a company." that would have been useful to know from the start. Another idea you could consider is live streaming of the theatre talks to a different part of the conference centre (use one the companies that were presenting at Mello) so I if I couldn't get into the theatre I still could have watched the presentation.
Lunch was very slow, I felt it could have been better organised. Even though the price of lunch was fine.
So overall my impression is so, so, but that is as a newbie. It seemed to be that many participants were catching up with old friends and enjoying it.

Mello2018 in Derby
26 April 2018
Excellent assortment of "star" speakers and a good selection of company speakers too, including many new companies to me. Overall layout and timekeeping also very good. If you want some criticism I thought the food at lunch was distinctly average, but apart from that all good. As usual Paul Scott ( Thurs evening session) and Gervais Williams excellent speakers. Thank you.
